What are people like at Faith Community Church?
We are an active church.
People at Faith Community Church of Chandler tend to be engaged in life. We have people from a variety of professions including engineers, teachers, attorneys, office workers and small business owners. A surprisingly high number of people at FCC are actively engaged in volunteer Christian ministry. Their stories are as unique as they are.
We are a multigenerational church.
Faith Community Church of Chandler consists of at least four generations of worshippers. This makes for a wide variety of people. Our goal is to learn the biblical practice of considering others ahead of ourselves. We are far from perfect in this, but we see it as an important part of spiritual growth. We believe that this kind of consideration overcomes all natural divisions of age, ethnicity, culture, economic status, and even musical tastes. With that in mind, we sing and appreciate both old and new music with a variety of styles in our worship services.
We are a substantive church.
As a church we are more interested in the meaning of the things we are singing and hearing from the pulpit than we are in any particular style. Our members are not particularly impressed with religious hype or showy-ness. They tend to be moved when biblical truth is presented compellingly in word or song.
We are a church of small groups.
AT Faith Community Church of Chandler we encourage everyone to join one of our small groups. These meet weekly through most of the year in homes all over Chandler. Our main purpose in these groups is connection. We study the scriptures, but our emphasis is on the application of scripture and encouragement of one another in our spiritual lives.
We are a church that serves God by building friendships.
This ethic reflects our commitment to love God and to love people. We like to describe these commitments with a biblicaly based two-part statement. This is where our priorities lie as a believing community.
- The Great Commandment is our passion...
"Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind, and Love your neighbor as yourself."
Matthew 22:37-39
- and the Great Commission is our program.
"Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age."
Matthew 28:19-20
